City of Novi
It's no illusion...Novi is where you go to grow your business.

The challenge for any business when it looks for a place to call home is separating the real opportunities from the illusions.

Here in Novi, making that differentiation is easy, and not just because we can point to concrete figures that speak volumes as they relate to our diversity, highly educated workforce, quality housing, award-winning schools, unparalleled location and distinction of being one of the safest communities in the state, if not the nation.

What helps tell our story of opportunity are the thousands of businesses that already call Novi home, and the synergy that has been created. Take, for example, Delphinus Medical Technologies, a high-tech company that is transforming the future of breast cancer screening. After just six years at another location in Michigan, the company was bursting at the seams and chose Novi because of its proximity to talent from all over metro Detroit.

"Success for a company like us is defined by the caliber and character of our people, and we have found these building blocks for success here in Novi," says President and CEO Mark Forchette. "It's an outstanding business environment for advanced technology companies like Delphinus."

Of the 60,000 residents who live in Novi, 32 percent have a bachelor's degree, while nearly 24 percent have a graduate or professional degree. It's that access to talent that attracts not just the companies within the United States but also from around the world.

After recently breaking ground on the Japan-based Hino Trucks' new corporate headquarters in Novi, Yoshinori Noguchi, President and CEO of the USA division, said selecting Novi was an "easy decision for us."

"This city has a lot to offer with its highly educated population and reputable school system, its international-friendly community environment and its central location with convenient access to the entire Detroit metro area, airports and our partners," Noguchi says.

For Tom Rzeznik, President and CEO of Danlaw, a leader in connected car and automotive electronics, the opportunities in Novi for not just the business but his employees were too good to pass up.

"Novi has excellent access to the 275/96/696 freeway corridor and good secondary road access, so it was a great fit," Rzeznik says. "Another advantage is that the majority of our automotive tier supplier customers have their R&D facilities within 10 miles of our Novi headquarters and the talent base for automotive embedded systems is here. And finally, Novi has plentiful housing, a great school system and very diverse restaurant and shopping options."

Another newcomer to Novi is the Chinese company Yanfeng Automotive Interiors, which recently invested nearly $9 million into building its southeast Michigan headquarters and technical center in Novi because of the central location to not only employees but also customers and freeways.

"We are delighted to be part of the Novi community and look forward to having a long-term presence in the city," says Nathan Bowen, Yanfeng Vice President and General Manager - Americas.

While these are just four stories of opportunity in Novi, there are thousands more told every day. As you can see, it's no illusion that Novi is the gateway to the emerging global environment. Successful businesses want to be surrounded by other successful businesses, and there is no place in Oakland County that offers the dynamic value found in Novi.
